On 10 March 2026, The Liaison Office (TLO) launched the Green Legacy Tree Plantation Campaign with an opening event at Qala-e-Muslim Hill, part of the Kabul Green Belt in Darulaman. The initiative is being implemented under TLO’s Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) 2026 Project, bringing together communities and partners to support environmental restoration and climate action across Afghanistan.

The launch event gathered a vibrant group of participants including representatives from government authorities, national and international organizations, NGOs, members of the Climate and Environment Coordination Platform (CECOP), volunteer teams, students, environmental activists, and media representatives.
Following the speeches, participants moved to the hillside where the symbolic planting began. Volunteers, students, and representatives from different organizations enthusiastically planted and watered saplings across the site, turning the hillside into a shared space of action and hope.

The Green Legacy Campaign goes far beyond this single event. Under this initiative, TLO aims to support the plantation of approximately 425,000 trees across different provinces of Afghanistan under different projects, contributing to ecosystem restoration, community engagement, and increased awareness about environmental protection.
More than just planting trees, Green Legacy is about planting responsibility, cooperation, and optimism for the future. Each sapling planted represents a small but meaningful step toward restoring Afghanistan’s natural environment and building a greener, healthier future for generations to come.
